Does the Russian version run without the mod?

If you rename only the VaBank.wld file to Clou2.wld and copy it into the folder of the German version of the game (nothing else needs to be done), the modified version should launch. Some dialogues will be missing and the original world map will load, but everything else should work.

The mod uses only a few slightly modified dialogs.
I translated the missing entries from Russian to German using GPT.
We need to replace the file located at Data\Dialogs_Ger.txt.
Russian text remains only on textures.


But first, we should check whether the game will launch with the renamed file VaBank.wld.

 

Hi! The mod was made on Windows 10, where it works almost perfectly (as does the game itself in the Russian version) in combination with DDRAW and DXWND. It's hard to say right away why it doesn't work on Windows 11. DXWND isn't really necessary for the game to function properly, but it is required to correctly display newly generated shadow maps in new locations (for example, the Jeweler's).
But, as "vorchun2024" wrote above, we can try to help install the mod by integrating it directly into the German version. For correct operation, only the WLD file is required. For the full game experience, of course, we also need translated dialog files and an edited EXE file. In the latter, we'll need to replace the Factory image with the Jeweler's, the city map, and the loading image (it's in the English version, but we can also make a German one, it won't take long). Ideally, of course, you'd also replace the game's main text textures (store signs, inscriptions, etc.), but that wouldn't be difficult either.
So, try replacing the WLD and changing the text file. If the game launches and runs smoothly, and the text is translated correctly, the remaining issues can be resolved.
P.S. An updated version of the mod is currently in development. It adds new loot to all robbery buildings (except for the story-driven ones – the Barracks, Harbor, Power Plant, and the Ministry of Light), thus partially changing the balance. Another large texture pack is also being finalized – for the remaining NPCs and some interior elements. If you can get the mod running smoothly, we can test it and demonstrate it later.

Сейчас на подходе обновленная версия мода. В ней добавлен новый лут во все здания для ограбления (кроме сюжетных - Казармы, гавань, электростанция и Концерн), таким образом частично изменен баланс. Также завершается доработка еще одного крупного пакета текстур - оставшиеся НПС и некоторые элементы интерьеров.

 

It worked! I just finished the Jeweler level for the first time and went for a long long stroll through the game's city. Thank you guys so so so much! I'm really looking forward to how this mod further develops, and if it maybe opens ways to more custom content being added to the game by people eventually. Keep up the great work! I'll follow the updates closely.

I'm not entirely sure. I guess they were but I've put some screenshots of the recording here, so you can tell:

 

Yes, they don't work... It's a shame, but so far the only way to solve this problem is by running the game through DXWND.
By the way, I prefer running the game at 1280x1024. It looks more "old school," in my opinion, although that's a matter of taste and personal preference.
