Hacks / translations for your favorite 8-16-bit console games

I've lost count of Street Fighter II clones for the NES, and today I saw a hack for one of them:



It needs to be applied on Master Fighter II (Unl) and fixes a few things.

I like this, are you ready to combine two hacks?



They're a series of hacks that convert "Dragon Ninja" to a game based on the film "John Carpenter's Big Trouble in Little China".

Do you like Splatterhouse? Well, it seems like it has a little known RPG spin-off for the NES, it's called Splatterworld and it never went past prototype stage:

The latest Game Boy to receive a colorization is Tiny Toon Adventures DX: Babs’ Big Break:



The patch converts it to a GBC game, so remember to change the extension to GBC after patching.

There's a new hack out there for the aftermarket release of Mega Man: The Willy Wars (Genesis / Mega Drive).



It's called Mega Hack and packs a bunch of new features:

- Enemy invulnerability time has been all but eliminated
- Improves Buster Fire Speed
- The Buster and some boss weapons can be fired more rapidly
- Mega Man pulls his Buster back a little sooner after firing
- Mega Man can have 5 bullets on screen at once, instead of the original games 3
- Adds the Slide to Mega Man 1 and 2
- Refill weapon energy after death
- Redraws all of Proto Man's sprites
- Optional MD+ patches

This is Sonic the Hedgehog v2 Vol. 2 v1.7 by terwilf, an unofficial continuation of the project started by Jabu to improve Sonic for NES.

There's a new improvement hack for an unlicensed Mortal Kombat for the NES, and you know I MUST try them all.



It's called Mortal Kombat Yoko Version and needs to be applied to Mortal Kombat II (Taiwan) (En) (Yoko) (Pirate).

The hack Grandmasters Edition for TMNT: Tournament Fighters (SNES) has been updated to v3.3, achieving what seemed impossible, making the characters Karai y Rat King playable:

This sounds interesting (no pun intended). It's an attempt to recreate the audio for Magical Puzzle Popils, a NES prototype recovered by The Hidden Palace, which has missing sounds. The sounds come from the Game Gear version of the game, which was released back in the day, and attempt to match the gameplay footage available.

Holy shit. Emerald Dragon for the Turbografx-CD just got an English translation!



It's an RPG and an updated version of the MSX version, but overhauled in pretty much every aspect.

Remember the Conventional Controls hack for Tetris (Bulletproof) (NES)?



It works as advertised, giving the game the same standard controls than the rest of Tetris versions. This made quite the difference in playability.

Anyway, they just updated it with an optional patch that restores the original main menu, ending and fireworks effects. They were still present after applying the patch, but they had to be downgraded a little for space reasons.

The Mega Man Wily Wars: Mega Hack (for the Genesis / Mega Drive) has been updated to v2.0.



This hack includes the following features:

The hack Mortal Kombat: Arcade Edition (Genesis) has been updated to v1.0d:



It's one of the most extensive hacks for MK, and now adds support for third party six button gamepads and fixes an issue with the Picodrive emulator.

I think I already mentioned a censorship hack for Deja Vu (NES) much earlier, but today I've noticed a new one that restores further content.



It's called Deja Vu Uncensored and can be obtained here.

 

There's a new set of patches for Shinobi (Master System) called Shinobi: The Real Ninja :



They include some graphic touches, but mostly they seem to alter gameplay slightly to make it faster paced.
